The reading sections of Iranian pre-university EFL and headway textbooks were analyzed in terms of the distribution of grammatical and lexical devices. The results of one-way ANOVA illustrated that there were significant differences among the frequencies of grammatical cohesive sub- devices across Iranian pre-university and headway textbooks. Moreover, the result of chi-square test indicated that there were significant differences among the frequencies of lexical cohesion sub-devices across Iranian pre-university EFL and headway textbooks.
